Domestic Violence Advocate Training – Winter Session

Domestic Violence Advocacy Training (DVAT) is offered three times a year to Sarah’s Inn volunteers who want to work directly with clients and increase their knowledge of domestic violence issues. Participants who complete the 40-hour training are certified as domestic violence advocates in the State of Illinois.
This interactive training utilizes group discussions, role playing and experiential learning activities to increase understanding. Topics covered include: crisis counseling, anti-racism, cultural awareness, the effects of domestic violence don children, mandated reporting, teen dating violence, legal issues and domestic violence, elder abuse, sexual assault, and a variety of other topics.
Dates: Tuesday evenings and Saturdays, January 29, – March 2, 2019

Times: 6-9pm, Tuesday evenings and 9am-4pm, Saturdays
Cost: Materials Fee is $25. There is no fee for training participants who have been accepted into the Volunteer Program with Sarah’s Inn. $250 for training participants who are not volunteering at Sarah’s Inn.
