A presentation by Judith Kelly about her book Just Call Me Jerzy, which is about Father Jerzy Popiełuszko (YEH-zheh  Poh-pyeh-WOOSH-koh), a Polish national hero.  The book recounts his courageous, nonviolent witness as chaplain to the Solidarity Movement, and gives a detailed chronology of his travels to the United States and Canada in the 1970’s & 80’s.  He was murdered by security agents on October 19, 1984 and beatified in 2010.

Judith Kelly is a friend of 8th Day Center and a longtime social justice activist in the Washington, DC area.  In 2014, Catholic peacemakers in Pax Christi’s DC/Baltimore region named her their Peacemaker of the Year. This is her first book.
