Liturgy for the Church as a Field Hospital
October 25, 2018 @ 11:30 am - 1:30 pm
FreeCountless people worldwide live on the margins, wounded by socioeconomic and political situations. As CWCIT visiting scholar Fr. Patrick Chibuko explains, it is the “wounded healer” of the Church—and ultimately, Jesus Christ—who offers the wounded true reconciliation through the liturgy. Christ is both the liturgy and liturgist, the summit and source of all reconciliations, and just as in Chapter 5 of Mark’s Gospel when the woman who was hemorrhaging was not healed until she touched Jesus’s cloak, our human efforts at reconciliation will also continue to “hemorrhage” until we touch Christ directly in the Paschal Mystery.
About the Speaker
Fr. Patrick Chibuko is chair of the Liturgy Commission in the Diocese of Enugu and Professor of Sacred Liturgy at the Catholic Institute of West Africa (CIWA) in Port Harcourt, Nigeria. He is a CWCIT visiting scholar during the 2018 fall quarter.
