Think You’re Helpless Against Chicago’s Violence? Think Again.

November 8, 2018 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Free

Join leaders in Chicago’s anti-violence work and North Shore residents in challenging longheld beliefs and gain practical solutions. This event will feature Phil Andrew, Director of Violence Prevention for the Archdiocese of Chicago, and Father Dave Kelly, of Chicago’s Precious Blood Ministry of Reconciliation, who will suggest ways to end Chicago’s epidemic of violence and conflict is by going to underserved neighborhoods, combining efforts with already existing non-profits, and offering jobs and training opportunities.

Phil Andrew, is a survivor of the 1988 Hubbard Woods shootings, calls on his background as a former FBI Agent and his current work as an anti-violence activist to appeal for help for these problems. He recently founded PAX Group, a risk preparation, crisis, and conflict resolution agency that enables organizations to build resilience and safer environments while maintaining confidence. PAX Group uses sophisticated law enforcement and community engagement techniques to respond to today’s social environments.

Fr. Kelly’s work with Precious Blood Ministry consists of leading peace circles between perpetrators and victims, in the south side’s Back of the Yards neighborhood. For many years, Fr. Kelly has lived adjacent to the neighborhood center that ministers to youth and families. He walks the walk and talks the talk.

The event will be in Kenilworth Union’s Culbertson Room. It is free and open to the public.

Please call 847-251 – 4272 with any questions.
