Faith Alive! Welcoming the Stranger from Biblical Times to Today
November 17, 2018 @ 8:30 am - 4:30 pm
$25A joint program of St. Joseph and St. Francis Xavier parishes, facilitated by Sr. Dianne Bergant CSA, Distinguished professor Emerita of Old Testament Studies Catholic Theological Union, Chicago.
Sister Dianne, a renowned biblical theologian, will show how Israel’s ancestors, as migrants, depended on the hospitality of others and how this openness to others then became an important characteristic of God’s people. Such hospitality then became a defining characteristic of the early Christians. There will
also be opportunities to discuss how these biblical ideas and stories can illuminate our times in small groups.
The program will begin in the Xavier Room with continental breakfast at 8:30 AM and conclude with a social hour around 4:30 PM. Refreshments and lunch are included in the fee. The Xavier Room is in the St. Francis Xavier parish school complex and can be accessed from Linden Avenue.
