From Lynching to Caging: Social Control in America

September 17, 2019 @ 7:15 pm - 9:00 pm

A talk by Michael Rabbitt, an anti-racism workshop facilitator for Showing Up for Racial Justice, will speak about two connected topics: The two museums he toured in Montgomery, Alabama: Bryan Stevenson’s museum focused on lynchings in the United States, and the Legacy Museum: From Enslavement to Mass Incarceration. He will also review the history of mass incarceration and its tragic impacts and inequities.

Rabbitt served on the Anti-Racism team of the Archdiocese of Chicago and was a member of Catholics United for Racial Justice. He is a founding member of Neighbors for Affordable Housing in Chicago and a co-founder of the Northwest Side Coalition Against Racism and Hate.
