Screening of The Good Nazi

November 4, 2018 @ 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm

$15

WTTW is partnering with the Illinois Holocaust Museum & Education Center on a Jewish inspired film screening.  This film will air on WTTW next spring as part of their 2019 Jewish Heritage Programming lineup. This screening will include a discussion with archaeologist Dr. Richard Freund. Reservations are free for WTTW supporters and their guests.

The Good Nazi shares the story behind the scientific work of a multinational research team. In July 2017, on the site of a former Nazi labor camp outside of Vilnius, Lithuania, the dig uncovered evidence related to where many Vilna Ghetto Jews survived thanks to the efforts of a compassionate Nazi officer, Major Karl Plagge. Lead archaeologist for the project, Dr. Richard Freund, University of Hartford, will provide insights following the screening. Professor Freund has directed over a dozen archaeological projects on behalf of the University of Hartford in Israel, including sites associated with the beginnings of Christianity and Judaism at Nazareth, Bethsaida, Yavne, and Qumran, site of the discovery of the Dead Sea Scrolls. His most recent work has been chronicled in a Holocaust Escape Tunnel, which was part of the 2017 Jewish Heritage Programming lineup on WTTW.

Tickets are available here. To reserve your seat, enter the number of attendees and then click “update cart.” Free for WTTW members.
