Silent Witness: Remember My Story, Remember My Name
October 15, 2018 @ 7:00 pm - 8:15 pm
FreeOctober is Domestic Violence Awareness Month, and St. Luke’s Outreach Ministry is cosponsoring a new event with Ascension and St. Edmund parishes to raise the consciousness of our local communities about ways to help friends, neighbors, co-workers or even our own extended family dealing with domestic abuse.
The public is invited to this free event to gain an understanding of this issue from witnesses, both those represented by silhouettes and those in attendance, and learn from a representative from Sarah’s Inn what resources are available to victims and their families.
The Silent Witness Initiative is an international movement that honors the lives of victims through community-based exhibits. Each victim in our community has a name and a story that needs to be recalled and remembered. This special program does this through prayer and advocacy for changes that we each can make for the victims we know.
To attend, enter Ascension School through Door #1 at 601 Van Buren Street, Oak Park, 60304. Doors open at 6:45pm.
