In 1948, after a civil war, Costa Rica dismantled its military establishment and intentionally cultivated security relationships through treaties, international laws and organizations. And for more than six decades it has survived serious threats. Following the screening, we’ll discuss film, USA/global cost of militarization and war, and the benefits of living in peace. Joining us for discussion will be Rory Fanning, author of Worth Fighting For: An Army Ranger’s Journey Out of the Military and Across America and co-author of Long Shot: The Triumphs and Struggles of an NBA Freedom Fighter.  Rory also writes for The Guardian, The Nation, and Tom Dispatch. We’ll learn about Rory’s background and activism for education (vs. militarization). We’ll offer ways to get involved with World Beyond War and Immigrant Solidarity DuPage, which are organizing this event with us.  We welcome active participation and all points of view for civil multilogue.  Join us!
